Wentworth

Wentworth - Outback NSW - New South Wales

Walk in the footsteps of pioneers and visit the Wentworth Museum for a big slice of history on this significant and historic, colonial-era, inland port.

This diverse outback town lies at the junction of the Darling and Murray rivers in the Murray Basin, in the far south-west corner of New South Wales and became the biggest and most active river port in Australia between 1890 and 1900 with over 400 craft using it in a single year. Today you can experience Australia's extraordinary waterways by way of a tour on a riverboat.

Wentworth is an ideal place to base yourself for a tour of Mungo National Park, which lies approximately 150 kilometres north-east of the town. Here you will experience the spectacular sand dune formations, named the Walls of China, and embark on a captivating adventure walking the dunes.

Visit the Australian Inland Botanic Gardens, the Old Gaol and the courthouse.
