Cooma became acknowledged internationally when workers from all over the world advanced upon the, town to build the incredible Snowy Mountains Scheme which was, at the time, the biggest civil/electrical engineering project undertaken in Australia. Cooma remains headquarters of Snowy Hydro and is the largest town in the Snowy Mountains, located 394 kilometres south-west of Sydney.

With close proximity to some of the best snow fields in New South Wales. Cooma is a popular place for visitors to stop along their journey between Victoria and NSW and also before hitting the slopes.
