Getting there: Halls Peak is 90km by road from Armidale, and you should allow 2 hours to get there. Turn right off the Grafton Road onto Kempsey Road 40km east of Armidale. Turn right onto Raspberry Road 20km along the Kempsey Road. Follow Raspberry Road 25km to the Halls Peak Road turnoff on the right. The campground is a further 5km along this road.
Approximately 45km of the total 90km is on unsealed road, some of which can be quite rough. The road is very steep, descending for almost 700 vertical metres with large adjacent unprotected drops. It is challenging and as a minimum requires the use of high clearance low-range 4WD vehicles with skilled and experienced drivers.
