Ubirr Rock

Ubirr Rock

Ever wanted to know what it feels like to stand on the edge of the world? A visit to the spiritual Ubirr Rock will have you wondering no more. The stunning Ubirr Rock is located in the East Alligator region of Kakadu National Park and approximately 40 kilometres from Jabiru. Only a short walk from the carpark will take you through the most fascinating Indigenous rock paintings some of which are many thousands of years old. There are three main galleries to view and ranger talks to sit in on for a greater insight to the meaning behind this breathtaking art.

Allow approximately one hour to take in the works of art as you weave your way along tracks leading to the foot of the famous Ubirr Rock in time for the setting of the sun. Ubirr Rock is a series of rocky outcrops where a moderate climb to the summit will have you overlooking the panoramic Nadab floodplain. Sit a while and take in the peacefulness of a mesmerising view that you may need to drag yourself away from.
