Hungerford - Outback QLD - Queensland

The small town of Hungerford has a population of 10 and its Dingo Barrier Fence also acts as a border gate as it is located on the Queensland/ New South Wales border near the Paroo River. The cornerstone of the town is the Royal Mail Hotel which is still in operation today after being established in 1873 and operated as a staging post for Cobb and Co. coaches from 1875.

In October visitors can check out Hungerford's Annual Sports Day, featuring a horse and motorbike gymkhana and bull ride. Fisherman can throw a line in the Paroo River for yellowbelly and tabbies and birdwatchers will enjoy the wildlife of Currawinya National Park. Visitors wishing to stay the night can check in at the local hotel or the caravan park.
