Kingaroy

Kingaroy - Southern West - Queensland

Kingaroy is the largest town in the southern west region and is well known as the peanut capital of Australia with a peanut van located in Kingaroy street selling the delicious sweet and savoury nuts. The township of Kingaroy is swathed in expansive lush farmland with gently rolling hillside scattered throughout. Take in the views at nearby Mt Wooroolin and Apex park in Fisher street or a little bit of history at the Heritage Museum in Kingaroy's Information Art and Heritage Precinct.

With its classic semi-alpine climate of all southern west townships, Kingaroy plays host to an award-winning cheese factory and several wineries where the range is extensive and the quality, excellent. Samples are on offer at their cellar doors. The Kingaroy cheese outlet is a must and the annual events well worth planning to participate in with the Wine and Food in the Park Festival in March, the Kingaroy Show in May, Burrandowan Picnic Races in May, the Kingaroy Peanut Festival in August and the December Christmas Carnival.
