Roma

Roma - Southern West - Queensland

Roma treasures its rich pioneering past with a collection of fine lovingly preserved buildings and significant landmarks symbolic of Roma's colourful history. Located 350 kilometres north-west of Toowoomba, visitors are welcomed with good old fashioned country hospitality.

Experience an up close and personal encounter with the impressive oil rigs and visit the Oil Patch to learn of the important role they played in the industry along with the hardships and stories of heroes of oil drilling and exploration of what is now a multi billion dollar industry. The Big Rig night show is a sensational sight for visitors.

Roma encourages visitors to get involved with the twice weekly cattle auctions, with sales being the largest in the Southern hemisphere, where you can view all of the activity from the raised walkways. Cattle sales are held every Tuesday and Thursday.

Wine enthusiasts will not want to miss a visit to the oldest winery in Queensland, The Romavilla Vineyard. Established in 1863, the Romavilla Winery will have you kicking back, relaxing and sampling their produce from the cellar door.
