The Burke and Wills Dig Tree is a significant reminder of the harsh nature of the Australian Outback is relayed through the story of the Burke and Wills expedition and their pioneering spirit. Visit the site where their supplies were buried, the "Dig Tree", located on the northern bank of Cooper Creek where it is officially managed by Nappa Merrie on behalf of the Royal Historical Society of Queensland.

The site is carefully maintained and remains the same as it was seen by Burke and Wills almost 140 years ago. About 30 metres downstream from the Dig Tree Burkes face was carved into another tree (the Face Tree) by John Dick in 1898. These two trees are an important connection to Australia's Historic past.
