Join us for a stunning wilderness cruise and we'll show you what many of the Cairns locals haven't even seen yet - you'll be amazed at what's right on our doorstep!

Crocodile Explorer is owned and operated by the Wallace Family - pioneers of cruises in Far North Queensland since 1979. Taking visitors to the natural habitat of Trinity Inlet in air-conditioned luxury, we guarantee a unique trip with our friendly and informative crew.

Right beside Cairns there is a unique natural environment just waiting to be explored. Trinity Inlet (Great Barrier Reef Coast Marine Park) is a maze of mangroves and waterways with picturesque scenery and an abundance of wildlife including crocodiles. And, nestled in one of its secluded creeks is the fascinating Cairns Crocodile Farm.

Combine a half day Crocodile Explorer morning tour with, a visit to the Cairns Wildlife Dome or lunch at Dundee's Waterfront Restaurant, or free time in the Cairns CBD with a late coach transfer back to your accommodation.

Wilderness Cruise

Alongside Cairns is a magnificent tidal estuary that is rarely seen, except by fishermen. Only accessible by boat, Crocodile Explorer is the only luxury, air-conditioned cruise taking small numbers of visitors along Trinity Inlet on this scenic nature cruise.

With waterways winding through a 300 square kilometre maze of mangroves, expect rich diverse wildlife, stunning scenery and a relaxing cruise with informative commentary from our crew. This is the saltwater crocodile's natural habitat - spot them basking on the muddy banks.

Cairns Crocodile Farm

Crocodile Explorer has exclusive access to this commercial crocodile farm. You will arrive either by boat or coach. There are no jumping croc shows here; it is Australia's largest crocodile farm with over 20,000 farm crocodiles and 200 large breeding crocodiles. Skins from this farm are considered the highest grade in the world (and used for designer handbags and accessories for the rich and famous).

During your insiders tour you'll get close up to the crocodiles in their natural environment and learn from a very knowledgeable tour guide about breeding habits, how the eggs are collected and how crocodiles are farmed.

Scenic Coach Tour

You will cruise to or from the Crocodile Farm aboard the MV Crocodile Explorer and complete the other one-way journey on a 30 minute coach tour through southern Cairns.
The coach tour takes in the wide open sugar cane fields and surrounding mountain ranges and along the way your guide will give insightful information about the sugar cane industry (a very important part of Far North Queensland's economy) and the history of the area.

Birdwatching Tour

Trinity Inlet is home to some of the rarest birds in Australia. With over half of Australia's bird species found locally, Crocodile Explorer Wilderness Cruise & Crocodile Farm tour is great for avid bird watchers. Crocodile Explorer can provide a special early departure for bird watchers on request. Enjoy the magnificent water and wading birds which have come to call these attractive lagoons home.

There have been over 46 species of birds reported from Trinity Inlet. The special mangrove lined waterways is a 'refuelling stop' for shorebirds migrating between grounds in the north including Siberia, China and Alaska during the northern winter. An estimated 2 million birds follow this migratory pathway.
