Wynyard

Wynyard - North West Coast - Tasmania

The fertile, tiny town of Wynyard is an agricultural hub that comes alive with vivid colour and lively events during the 'Bloomin' Tulips' festivities held over three weeks in late September early October. Wynyard is blessed with a panoramic location, 60 kilometres west of Devonport, on the banks of the Inglis River and Bass Straight with beaches and bays for plenty of water action. With the popular Boat Harbour just north of town visitors are able to hit the water for a swim, some diving, spearfishing, marine-life spotting, waterskiing and fishing.

Rocky Cape National Park plays host to Aboriginal rock shelters and middens, some of the most well maintained in Tasmania and Fossil Bluff is home to the oldest marsupial fossil in Australia. Back in town, absorb the natural wonders on Wynyard and stretch out with a picnic along the riverside at Gutteridge Gardens and stroll along the boardwalk beside the river.
