Hastings Caves Dover - TAS Landmarks

Landmark: Hastings Caves
Address: 754 Hastings Caves Road, Hastings, 7109, TAS

Located approximately 90 minutes drive south of Hobart and tour some of the most celebrated flowstones and chambersin Australia. Venture into 40 million years worth of Mother Natures handiwork at Hastings Caves. Wander beneath the spectacular formations of Newdegate Cave, Australia's largest tourism cave.

Wander around the spacious, well lit caverns embellished with stalagmites, shawls, straws, columns and stalactites. This very special cave is one of the few caves in Australia formed in the pearly white crystal, dolomite. Although the cave consists of approximately 240 stairs they are separated into smaller sections so as not to be too taxing.

Don't forget your bathers! There is a spring fed thermal pool to be enjoyed after you put in the hard work of exploration. The pool runs a constant temperature of 28 degrees Celsius, all year round, so it is perfect for poaching yourself in after the chilly 9 degrees of the underground. Relax with a picnic in the fully equipped area complete with change rooms, showers, toilets, shelters and barbecues.
