Hamilton

Hamilton - Grampians - Victoria

Hamilton is the heart of the sheep grazing region and is known as 'Wool Capital of the World' due to the important role this industry plays in the towns economy and the significance of this rural centre. There is so much to experience in this prosperous country city with culture around every corner. The stunning Botanic Gardens simply should not be missed, these impressive gardens are bursting with colour and feature the unique design ingredients courtesy of Melbourne Botanic Gardens curator, William Guilfoyle.

Take some time out for a leisurely bike ride or walk on the purpose built track at the picturesque, man-made Lake Hamilton, restore your vitality with a swim or launch the yacht. Visit one of the original Ansett hangars and get an aviation history lesson at the Ansett Transport Museum, meander through the gardens and gallery at Mount Bainbridge Lavender.

Mount Eccles National Park is home to an ancient volcanic crater lake where visitors can embark on walks leading to the exploration of 20,000 year old caves. The three major craters hold the 700 metre long, Lake Surprise.
