12 Apostles Port Campbell - VIC Landmarks

Landmark: 12 Apostles
Address: Great Ocean Road, Princetown, 3269, VIC

Travelling the iconic Great Ocean Road is a major contributor as to why family road trips have become an institution in Australia. Whether you decide to travel by car or strap on your boots to conquer the Great Ocean Walk, from Apollo Bay to the 12 Apostles, there is little doubt that you will remain unchanged as you experience one of the world's most picturesque stretches of coastline. Take it all in from one of the many lookouts as the wild Southern Ocean collides with the sheer, majestic cliffs.

Scale the lofty heights and get a birds eye view of the famous limestone stacks, the 12 Apostles, or board a boat tour and cruise around them for an up close and personal view taking in their sheer enormity. These majestic rocks rising up out of the Southern Ocean are natures creation of continuous erosion over 10-20 million years, originally shaping caves in the coastal cliffs. Parts of these caves eventually collapsed leaving behind these magnificent 45 metre high rock stacks. This dramatic coastline is amazing at any time of the day but for a special viewing, sunrise and sunset offer spectacular changes in colour and shadow. The famous 12 Apostles are located 275 kilometres west of Melbourne along the Great Ocean Road.
