Referred to simply as the MCG or even just the 'G', there is no doubt that this legendary stadium has hosted events, envied the world over and as well known as any other. The Melbourne Cricket Ground saw the dawning of Test cricket and hosts more than 80 annual events having chalked up an amazing past of world class sporting events and entertainment. Track and field events were held here for the 1956 Olympic Games and again for the 2006 Commonwealth Games. With more than 100 Test matches under its belt along with VFL/AFL Grand Finals, State of Origin, international Rugby Union and Australian World Cup Soccer qualifiers. Having such a fine history it is only fitting that, here, visitors are able to view Australia's most outstanding collection of sporting memorabilia and artefacts.

Anyone who has had the pleasure of attending an event at the MCG will attest to the fact that this is not just any sporting stadium, it is a world-class, multi-purpose stadium and as versatile as any stadium. The Melbourne Cricket Ground has staged concerts for the likes of Madonna, U2, Michael Jackson, The Police and the Rolling Stones.
