Derby

Derby - The Kimberleys - Western Australia

Derby was the original settlement in the Kimberley and is situated on King Sound, 220 kilometres north east of Broome. The Buccaneer Archipelago is made up of thousands of jagged islands featuring rainforests, secluded beaches and mangroves scattered in the unspoilt, tropical ocean and all just off the coast of Derby.

Derby is home to the highest tides in the southern hemisphere leading to the sensational experience of the Horizontal Waterfalls and a visit to Derby is not complete unless visitors have encountered the high and low tide at Derby wharf, reaching over 12 metres.

Embark on an adventure along the Gibb River Road where you will vend yourself immersed in mesmerising gorge territory, Windjana Gorge, Tunnel Creek and Bell Gorge. Your outback adventure begins with the western gateway of Derby.
